Everbody Hurts Haiti Charity Single Starring 21 Pop Stars Originally by REM – From JK_Pro On PS3

The all-star fund-raising single for the Haiti earthquake victims has been played on radio for the first time.

More than 21 artists contributed to the cover of REM’s Everbody Hurts, including Take That, Susan Boyle and Kylie Minogue.

Pop mogul Simon Cowell hastily arranged the record, which will be available to download on 7 February.

Leona Lewis opened the track, followed by Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Cheryl Cole, Mika and Michael Buble.

Parts of the song were recorded in London, while artists – including Robbie Williams – put down their vocals in Los Angeles.

Artists such as James Morrison and Alexandra Burke sang their lines at Trevor Horn’s Sarm Studios in Notting Hill – where the original Band Aid single was recorded in 1984.

Among others whose voices can be heard on the record are Susan Boyle, Miley Cyrus, James Blunt, Jon Bon Jovi and members of Westlife and JLS.

Cowell said making the record had been “an absolute priority for us all”.

Half of the single’s proceeds will go to the Sun’s Helping Haiti fund and the rest will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee.

In the US, an album of artists who performed at George Clooney’s fundraising telethon, including Madonna, Jay Z, Rihanna and Mary J Blige, has been released on iTunes.

    Have you actually …
    Have you actually listened to the song? The title of the song is also the song’s chorus. How could you possible have missed this? I think it is you that are the idiot, although I don’t think name calling is necessary.

  5. Ancientmew2 says:

    @PatrickWhite85: It’s about the lyrics not the song name you idiot.

  7. PatrickWhite85 says:

    This song is …
    This song is completely inappropriate for the Haitian? earthquake. Could you imagine what it would be like to attempt to comfort someone who had been severely injured in the earthquake and who’s family had been killed by saying “everybody hurts”. It suggests that that persons suffering is average or run of the mill, that it is equatable to ones own suffering. Something which I consider completely and utterly grotesque under the circumstances.

  8. ChorChar says:

    @ZOMGYouSmell I …
    @ZOMGYouSmell I guess that’s true, however the single also promotes the need to donate to Haiti, so in addition to making money from people buying the song it will increase donations.

  9. ChorChar says:

    @TheMrsnikkisixx Um …
    @TheMrsnikkisixx Um what the are you on? The song will be SOLD and will make MILLIONS of dollars which is being given 100% to Haiti… I think it will help the Haitian people quite a bit.

  10. ChorChar says:

    @TheMrsnikkisixx …
    @TheMrsnikkisixx I’m sure they have all given money too. It’s not like any of them have limited supply. Yeah, the money and the time probably isn’t as valuable to them as it is to us normal people, and yeah, some of them are probably just doing it for the publicity. But I mean, what else are they meant to do? At least the people in Haiti are getting something from it.

    I almost cried when I watched the video and saw all of the little children. I think this song is perfect for what has happend. Simon Cowell, you did an amazing thing and so did all of the artists that participated in the song.

  15. Rockitt2009 says:

    It’s for a good …
    It’s for a good cause don’t be so god selfish.
    You’re just sitting complaining about a song, which is raising loads of money for people with problems much bigger than your complaint about the song.

  16. Rockitt2009 says:

    Simon Cowell is …
    Simon Cowell is doing a good thing, all of the proceeds are going to haiti, none of which is for himself. for once he is doing a selfless deed. If in doing this he gains some publicity so be it, he’s done it for all the right things. You may not like listening to the song over and over, but just think how many people will have been helped by the money raised.

  17. JKProOnPlayStation says:

    Im surprised it …

    this is not the official video

  22. TheMrsnikkisixx says:

    Its no bad thing …
    Its no bad thing that Haiti will benefit… its just hypocrisy of Mr Cowell et al … “doing something” by making this single. The making of the single means nothing to the Haitian people, they merely need the money. Why dont SC etc just give the equivalent of record sales… Im sure they can afford it, instead of contributing “their time” to sing a song for an hour. (which in itself makes no money at all). Its all publicity for him, and sadly we will have to listen to this over and over.

  23. chelseafc95boi says:

    i wish i was mega …
    i wish i was mega rich so that i could give them soo much money an i really would its sooo sad :(

  24. ZOMGYouSmell says:

    Sadly, well, …
    Sadly, well, fortunately for the people in Haiti, but sadly for the people who’re going to have to listen to the song constantly, it will sell because of Simon Cowell’s and others’ involvement. I don’t suppose it’s a bad thing to do it for Haiti, but as you said, it’s unfortunate that people need something in return for a donation.

  25. TheMrsnikkisixx says:

    ZOMG I agree, I …
    ZOMG I agree, I dont like it either. Will I buy it? No. I’ve just donated my money, as I dont need something in return for my donation. I agree if they had to release a single, why couldn’t they just re-release REM? Is it because X Factor/BGT et al all want to be seen to be doing something? I wonder how much each of them have donated from their own fortunes? Oh yes, they have given their “time” (otherwise spent being millionaires)… while normal people should all fork out. Call me a cynic. I am
